Paolo Sala was a landscape, marine, genre and portrait painter, and the brother of Eugenio. Sala was a pupil at the Academy in Milan. In 1880 he was awarded the Mylius prize. He travelled to Paris, London and South America. He lived in Russia for a long time where he painted the conservatory in St Petersburg. He was later resident in Milan, becoming the founder and president of the Associazione degli Acquarellisti lombardi in 1910).
